Molded case circuit breakers and miniature circuit breakers are electrical protection devices. Although their functions are similar, there are several key differences in structure and application:

1. Structure and size

Molded case circuit breakers: They are usually larger in size, with a plastic shell, suitable for higher currents and voltages. Their rated currents generally range from 63A to 2500A.

Miniature circuit breakers: They are small in size, suitable for small circuits, and their rated currents generally range from 1A to 63A. They are usually used in homes and small industrial equipment.

2. Application areas

Molded case circuit breakers: They are mainly used in industrial and commercial power systems, suitable for the protection of high-power equipment, and can withstand large short-circuit currents.

Miniature circuit breakers: They are mostly used in residential and small commercial facilities, mainly for the protection of small electrical equipment and lines.

3. Protection functions

Molded case circuit breakers: They usually integrate overload, short-circuit and leakage protection functions, suitable for a variety of protection needs.

Miniature circuit breakers: They mainly provide overload and short-circuit protection. Some models also have leakage protection functions, but they are not as comprehensive as molded case circuit breakers.

4. Installation method

Molded case circuit breakers: usually need to be installed in the distribution cabinet.

Miniature circuit breakers: can be directly installed on the rails of the distribution box, which is convenient for maintenance and replacement.

5. Price

Molded case circuit breakers: due to their large capacity and multiple functions, the price is usually higher.

Miniature circuit breakers: relatively cheap and suitable for large-scale applications.

Summary

Molded case circuit breakers are more suitable for high voltage and high current industrial applications, while miniature circuit breakers focus on low voltage and low current home and small commercial uses. It is very important to choose the right circuit breaker according to specific electrical needs.
